Pain Coaching with Catherine Sophia
When pain doesn’t make sense, understanding matters.
Discover your unique path to lasting relief, guided by a qualified Exercise and Pain Science Specialist
I work with individuals living with persistent pain and ongoing stress that hasn’t resolved through simple fixes, strengthening programmes, or being told to push through.
Often, the problem isn’t motivation or resilience.
It’s that the body is responding to more than symptoms alone.

What is pain coaching?
Pain coaching is not about fixing you.
It’s about making sense of what your body is doing, why it learned to respond this way, and what helps it feel safer over time.
Pain is not a single system problem. It’s shaped by the nervous system, movement patterns, learning, stress, past experience, and the environments we live inside.
When those pieces are understood together, pain often becomes less frightening, less dominant, and more workable.
About my work
My background is in movement and exercise. I am a dance, Pilates, Rossiter Stretching instructor, and a trained Pain Reprocessing Therapist.
Over time, I realised that technique alone wasn’t enough.
Some people with significant physical change experience little pain. Others with minimal findings live in constant discomfort. That contradiction matters.
My work is grounded in evidence based pain science, neuroscience, and nervous system regulation. I’m particularly interested in how bodies respond to inconsistency, pressure, and unspoken stress, and how that shows up as pain, fatigue, or shutdown.
Rather than focusing on one body part, I work with the whole picture. Physical, neurological, emotional, and contextual.
My approach
I don’t offer one size fits all solutions.
Together, we explore:
-
how your pain developed
-
what keeps it going
-
how your nervous system is responding
-
how movement, safety, and understanding interact
-
what helps your body settle rather than brace
This is a collaborative process. One rooted in enquiry, not blame.
"The process of enquiry gives us the information we can use in the service of change. The change for the better will be predictable if it comes from a place of understanding." - Dr Paul Conti
Who I work with
People often come to me when:
-
pain has persisted despite doing “all the right things”
-
reassurance hasn’t matched lived experience
-
they are tired of coping better and want clarity
-
they sense their body is responding to more than tissue damage
Some professionals also connect with my work because they see these same patterns in their clients and want a more humane, integrated way forward.
Working together
I offer individual assessments and longer term, integrated treatment plans, alongside movement based support.
If you’re curious whether this approach might be right for you, you’re welcome to book a free discovery consultation.
This is simply a space to explore whether working together feels like a good fit.
