Pilates with Your Real Body
Pilates Group Classes and 1:1 Pilates Reformer Studio Sessions
Expert Pilates instruction to help you grow stronger, move without pain, and feel your absolute best!
Are you ready to move with freedom, power, and purpose? At Your Real Body Pilates, we go beyond just exercise. I empower you to understand your body and mind through the "real" science of movement, the brain-body connection and pain management.
No matter your goals, moving pain-free, recovering from injury, or achieving peak performance, my classes and personalised programmes are based on cutting-edge knowledge and not outdated trends.
Pilates Group Classes
Forget "one-size-fits-all" workouts
In a Your Real Body Pilates class no-one looks the same or moves the same, in fact it's actively discouraged. We have unique bodies, brains, past experiences, current needs and future goals. We think, behave, learn, feel and experience emotions and life differently.
Stepping into a Your Real Body session peels away outdated exercise narratives, layer by precious layer. As you shed limiting beliefs, a powerful truth emerges: your unique mind-body blueprint, ready to unlock a health and wellness you never knew possible.

While Pilates’ true mind-body essence is undeniable, many miss out on its deeper layers due to reliance on dated information and an attachment to preserving 'originality'. By fusing Pilates' mind-body principles with cutting-edge science, particularly the insights of neuroscience, catapults its well-being potential to unprecedented heights. It empowers individuals to take charge of their health, making them less reliant on healthcare systems.
The puzzle pieces of mental and physical health are unique to each person and can't be separated. No two fit the same way. But with the diverse understanding of the human body and mind, we can start to piece together our own unique puzzle.

If preferred, classes can be attended on a 'Pay As You Go' basis at £13 per session. However, please be aware that this option does not secure your spot, and availability must be checked weekly. 'Pay As You Go' bookings are accepted up to 7 days in advance.
Is there an online option available?
For the Pilates classes, opting for our recorded weekly classes-only option comes at the same price as mentioned earlier. The recording remains accessible throughout the term, allowing you the flexibility to engage in multiple sessions each week.
What age range and skill level do your classes cover?
Our group classes embrace a diverse range of abilities and ages, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone to thrive.
What should I wear?
We engage in various positions on our mats, including standing, sitting, and lying down. Our exercises involve moving our arms and legs in all directions, so it's important to wear comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement. It's advisable to choose layered attire for flexibility—easy to peel off or put back on as needed. Additionally, bringing a blanket for the 15-minute relaxation at the end of the session is a consideration.
What should I bring with me?
Strong Foundations - just yourself
Pilates - Please bring your own Pilates mat to each class. Our sessions also incorporate portable equipment such as resistance bands and soft balls. These items are available for purchase during class or can be sourced independently. If you're attending your first class, spare sets are provided for borrowing, so there's no need to rush out and buy equipment upfront. It's also advisable to bring a head cushion or rolled up towel for additional support if needed.
Can I join a class if I have a pre-existing medical condition or injury?
Certainly! We welcome participants with pre-existing medical conditions or injuries. To ensure your safety, we ask all attendees to complete a medical form in advance, providing an opportunity to discuss any concerns if needed. In some cases, it might be recommended for individuals to consider a personalised 1:1 session before joining a group class, ensuring a tailored approach to meet specific needs.
Can I try a class before committing to a term?
We welcome people to try a class via the PAYG basis detailed above.
Can children join in the class?
We invite independent participation from individuals aged 16 and over. For those under 16, we request that they are accompanied by a responsible adult who is actively participating in the class. To maintain a comfortable environment for all participants, we kindly ask that non-participants refrain from sitting in and observing the class.
Why is there a 15-minute relaxation section at the end of every Pilates class?
The 15-minute relaxation section at the end of each class serves two primary purposes to enhance the overall health benefits of the session.
Firstly, numerous studies have extensively documented the measurable physical and mental advantages of a 15-minute relaxation or mindfulness practice.
Secondly, the physiological changes in our bodies resulting from exercise occur not during the exercise itself, but in the post-exercise period. The relaxation session facilitates the transition of the brain and body into recovery mode, initiating the processes of positive change. While the initiation requires approximately 5 minutes of rest, the extended relaxation period also allows us to reap the additional benefits mentioned in the first point.
Is there a discount if I choose not to stay for the 15-minute relaxation section?
The last 15 minutes of relaxation is an integral part of our session, contributing to the overall well-being of our participants. Although we appreciate that individual circumstances vary, our class fees are structured to encompass the entire session, and unfortunately, we aren't able to offer discounts for partial attendance.
Can I join your group class even though I've never done Pilates before?
Absolutely! Whether you're new to Pilates or have prior experience, you're more than welcome to join our group class. Pilates accommodates both individual and group settings, and it's entirely up to you. Some individuals prefer starting with one or two private sessions for various reasons, while others feel comfortable diving straight into the group environment. Whichever option you choose, we look forward to having you with us!
Having attended lots of Pilates classes before, what differences can I expect at yours?
The factors of training, experience, background and style of your previous teachers alone will bring variety in teaching. The more obvious differences you will notice from being a science-based teacher are:
-
more variety in alignments of the exercise
-
less movement rules
-
increased invites to explore the sensations of the exercise
-
no rules on linking of a breath pattern to the exercise
-
exercises executed in a non-atheistically pleasing form alongside the more traditional versions
I struggle to get up and down off the floor. Is the class right for me?
Possibly. We have participants who face challenges with getting up and down off the floor, and they find ways to manage with additional support and a gradual approach. If your goal is to improve your ability to do so, consistent practice is key. However, we understand that initially, doing this in a group setting might feel uncomfortable or physically challenging. In such cases, you may consider our Strong Foundations class or starting with private sessions to build confidence and work on exercises tailored to your goals. This personalised approach can be a valuable investment in achieving your desired outcomes.
Do you provide classes designed for individuals who are already at an advanced fitness level?
Absolutely! All our classes are designed to accommodate participants at every fitness level, from beginners with a lower fitness level to advanced experts. We embrace inclusivity and believe that everyone can benefit, regardless of their current fitness level. The key is understanding your body and goals, and our classes provide the tools to help you reach them.
